It’s always fun tackling a website development project for a person as apposed to a brand or company. Case in point is this website designed by Adams for abstract oil painting artist John Ballard from New Romney in Kent.
The opportunity to showcase his amazing extra large oil paintings was welcomed by our team!
Aims
Artist John Ballard is a lifelong creative with an interesting and colourful artistic history. Now in his eighties John is still a prolific painter – but his world is oil paint and canvas, not the internet.
Adams were commissioned by John to create an online exhibition of his work that would showcase his extra large oil paintings for sale but also to create the opportunity to undertake commissions.
What we did
The primary purpose of the website for John was to show off his incredible oil paitings is his characteristic style – and not clutter the user experience with fanciful web design, rather to ensure his work was front and centre for the visitor to enjoy.
Consequently, the approach was to create a simplistic website that operated as a true online gallery for the viewer of the oil paintings. In order to demonstrate how John’s work would appear in a live setting, Adams undertook a photoshoot with John, his art pieces and of his work hung in various rooms.
